The Last Colony

Or should it be called The Lost Colony! Since as the years march on it becomes harder and rarer to find mention of it by name in any of the Global reference resources. How many software applications list it as a selection in the localization options?

Anyway this Blog is about 'saving the world' kind of discussions ... The important things that 'they' would prefer we didn't discuss, but rather opt to relinquish more and more control to those unelected, publicly unaccountable bodies of 'Wall street wizards' that dominate global, national and local policy. A world governed by bank clerks & accountants!!! OMG!

  • May 1st 2010 is set for the start of my journey around the shores of the Last Colony. A journey of self discovery, a challenge of monumental proportions an experience to rival any before. I dare say with the ups and downs of the intended journey, my mood will occasionally drift me towards more serious subjects of discussion. I hope not to bore you too much with them, but I do believe if we don't address many issues that confront us today, we are just pilling up the cost for those who follow!

Food for Thought

  • "It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself." From the Declaration of Arbroath: 1320
  • Normality: The normality is Independence. Most countries around the world are independent and most of them prefer it that way.
  • The only normal and appropriate status for any nation is independence.

The Last Colony

I often wonder, often several times a day, why we as a people prefer to be without 'Nationhood'. Has our spirit been so undermined that none but a few can see the guiding light cast from the beacon of independence? I've never understood how a people with such a great & fearsome history cower at the prospect of self rule, a status that most self respecting peoples have aspired to! It disturbs me daily. Maybe this trip, the fresh highland air, the solitude, the space to think and talk with you, my blogger friends, will resolve some of that angst! Is it to late for the Last Colony, can it ever be recovered from the grips of globalisation and the Wall street agenda .... ?
